Fresh, fizzy, and just sweet enough, this Strawberry Basil Sparkler is an easy summer drink made with ripe strawberries, fresh basil, lemon, and sparkling water. Serve it over ice as a refreshing nonalcoholic mocktail, or add gin or vodka to turn it into a simple summer cocktail.
Ingredients
-
1 ½ cup strawberries, hulled and sliced, plus more for garnish
-
¼ cup fresh basil leaves, plus more for garnish
-
¼ cup fresh lemon juice
-
2-3 tablespoons honey or simple syrup, to taste
-
3 cups chilled sparkling water
-
Ice
-
Lemon slices for garnish
-
1.5 L Super Jar, for mixing and storing
-
Le Parfait Jam Jars, for serving
-
Long spoon or muddler
Equipment
Directions
Add 1 cup of the sliced strawberries, basil, lemon juice, and honey or simple syrup to a large Le Parfait jar. Gently muddle until the strawberries release their juices and the basil becomes fragrant.
Fill the jar with ice, then slowly pour in the chilled sparkling water. Stir gently to combine. Taste and add a little more sweetener or lemon juice if desired.
Divide the remaining sliced strawberries among four Le Parfait Jam Jars and fill with ice. Pour the Strawberry Basil Sparkler over the top and garnish with fresh basil and lemon slices.
For a cocktail: Add 1–1½ ounces of gin or vodka to each serving before topping with the Strawberry Basil Sparkler.
Recipe Note
For the best flavor, use ripe, in-season strawberries and adjust the sweetness to taste. Add the sparkling water just before serving to keep the drink bubbly. If making the strawberry-basil mixture ahead, refrigerate it separately and add the sparkling water when you're ready to serve.
