Prepping your Jar
Start by sterilizing your glass jar. You can do this by washing it in hot soapy water or placing it in a warm oven for about 15 minutes.
In a bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Pour this into the jar as the first layer.
Add in the rolled oats as the next layer, followed by the chocolate chips
Next, the packed brown sugar, then the granulated sugar, and finally any add ins your heart desires
Seal the jar tightly. Decorate the jar with ribbons, fabric, or even Christmas ornaments to make it festive.
Don't forget to attach a tag or label with the following baking instructions for the recipient:
Baking Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Beat 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) softened unsalted butter, 1 large egg, and 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract in a large mixer bowl until blended.
Add cookie mix and 1/2 cup of your favorite add-ins (like dried cranberries or white chocolate chips), and mix well, breaking up any clumps.
Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.
Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
